Kotnik Aviation joins the Aerospace Innovation Hub community! Having moved into their office at the Hub, they’re joining a growing ecosystem of innovative companies shaping the future of aerospace. 👥

Focused on the future of sustainable aviation, Kotnik Aviation develops advanced electric and hybrid propulsion systems alongside innovative aircraft designs. Their participation in DEMOday 2025 was a great opportunity to showcase their work and connect with other pioneers in the field. 🚀

This move  was made possible by Kansen voor West – Voucher scheme field labs TU Delft Campus, and was co-funded by the European Union. The voucher provides financial support for SMEs looking to establish themselves in one of the field labs or innovation clusters located at the TU Delft Campus.

ICEE.Space joined the Aerospace Innovation Hub, operating from the new test site at The Terminal and opened a seed round! This strategic move allows to become the first analogue test site in the Netherlands, enable student opportunities and collaborate actively with the TU Delft. ICEE.Space is an innovative startup from the ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC CZ), specializing in analog astronaut missions to simulate and prepare for lunar and martian space expeditions. The company conducts research in extreme terrestrial environments, such as inactive lava tunnels, to develop inflatable habitats, space suits and technologies essential for sustaining human life on other planets.

We have enjoyed welcoming Aerohauler to the Aerospace Innovation Hub! They moved into an office at the Hub and they joined our community full of innovative companies like them! 👥

Aerohauler is dedicated to driving the evolution of air freight, offering advanced, environmental friendly aircraft that lead the way in efficient global freight transport. They are already well integrated into the Dutch ecosystem, with Karel Bockstael among others as an advisor.

The Aerospace Innovation Hub is an RVO recognised facilitator. By establishing a partnership (signed agreement), the Aerospace Innovation Hub can help a startup entrepreneur from outside of EU getting a residence permit. The agreement contains a tailor-made package of support depending on the specific needs of the startup entrepreneur.

We have two exciting updates to share from Emergent Swarm Solutions!

Emergent has secured its pre-seed funding! This investment marks a critical step in advancing their vision for scalable, platform independent autonomy and swarming technology.

The company has also relocated to a new office on the 12th floor of the Aerospace Innovation Hub. This upgraded space provides the room and resources needed to continue developing software for the next generation of unmanned systems. Exciting times lie ahead as the team is currently building a few new development drones!

The MK-II Aurora, a prototype spaceplane designed by TU Delft alumni Tobias Knop and Jeroen Wink, recently broke the sound barrier for the first time. Developed by their company Dawn Aerospace, the MK-II Aurora aims to revolutionize space travel with its reusable, runway-launched design.

Unlike traditional rockets, the Aurora combines rocket propulsion with aircraft-like versatility, capable of taking off from standard runways. During a test in New Zealand, the five-meter-long craft reached supersonic speeds at an altitude of 25 kilometers. Future plans include a larger version capable of delivering satellites into space and returning to Earth.

Revolv Space announced that SARA, its space-qualified Solar Array Drive Assembly, has successfully completed integration and testing on DPhi Space’s Clustergate-1 platform and D-Orbit’s ION Satellite Carrier.

This significant milestone marks a major step toward SARA’s first in-orbit demonstration, scheduled for the first half of 2025. Leveraging the robust capabilities of Clustergate-1, the mission will demonstrate SARA’s effectiveness in unlocking the power generation potential of SmallSats by deploying and autonomously orienting a solar array under space conditions.
